Regenexx

Cutting-edge, Non-surgical Stem Cell Treatments to Relieve Orthopedic Conditions

Regenexx® at Gold Coast Orthopedics Practices the Trusted Alternative to Orthopedic Surgery to Treat Patients.

Regenexx Procedures help patients who suffer from orthopedic injuries, joint pain, and degenerative joint conditions – like avascular necrosis and osteoarthritis – without relying on surgery. Instead, these procedures use the patient’s own healing agents to treat damaged tissues, ligaments, tendons, cartilage, bone, and spinal discs.

The most significant benefits of Regenexx are the prevention of a long recovery and avoidance of painful rehabilitation, which usually result from invasive surgeries such as joint replacements.

What Is the Regenexx-SD Patented Bone Marrow Concentrate Protocol?

Bone Marrow Aspirate Location

Regenexx-SD is bone marrow concentrate that contains stem cells, which exist inside all of us in various tissues, ready to repair damage when it happens. As we get older or suffer serious injuries, our bodies may not be able to recruit enough of these cells to the site to repair the damaged area completely. The Regenexx-SD Procedure helps remedy this issue by extracting bone marrow from an area of the back of the hip that has a dense population of these important cells and then concentrating those cells prior to injecting them into the injured area using advanced imaging guidance. The aims of the procedure are to reduce pain and improve function by promoting the body's own ability to repair itself naturally. This patented bone marrow concentrate protocol can treat a wide range of orthopedic conditions. Your Regenexx doctor will evaluate your condition and your imaging to conclude whether a bone marrow concentrate or platelet-based treatment is the best option for your orthopedic condition.

Why Is Regenexx Innovation Important?

Constantly refining our equipment and procedures ultimately leads to improved outcomes for our patients. At Regenexx, we invest in innovation and the people who make it happen. We have a PhD-led lab research team and a physician/biostatistician-led clinical research team who perform studies to discover better techniques.

For instance, a few years ago, our teams implemented projects to develop new ways of processing bone marrow. We wanted to double – or triple – the amount of cells extracted during a bone marrow aspiration. Our efforts outperformed our highest expectations, increasing the number of cells by more than 500%. Unlike most physicians’ offices, we don’t use the average automated centrifuge for our bone marrow concentrate procedures. We have created our own revolutionary device that extracts about four times the stem cells a centrifuge can.

Extracting a larger quantity of stem cells is only the means to the ultimate end – improving a patient’s quality of life.

In this chart, you can see that our new procedure yielded statistically significant, positive changes in the knee function, according to the lower extremity functional scale (LEFS), as well as pain relief as compared with other treated patients. The average length of time for a follow-up is five months.

This chart shows clinical data for knee arthritis patients from before and after changing to the second generation of our patented same-day Regenexx procedure.

This proves that our procedure both extracts more bone marrow and leads to better results than we had achieved with our previous procedure, which already exceeded the results of alternative treatments. All Regenexx network providers offer the latest procedures and have trained staff to perform them. This is our second-generation procedure, and we have a third one in process. We are performing our third-generation platelet lysate, which is a mixture of growth factors that have been isolated from platelets, and the fourth iteration of it is in the works.

This level of ongoing innovation differentiates us from the smaller clinics that offer similar procedures using inferior and outdated technology. We at Regenexx are fully focused on orthopedic bone marrow concentrate and platelet procedures that will produce the best results for our patients.
